2.  Water complaints lead SCB to many illegal connections :  The officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) were shocked to find a consumer maintaining about half a dozen water connections while he was supposed to hold only one.
3.  Hyderabad receives light showers, no respite from soaring heat :  After torrid days, the city was in for a spell of short-lived but much required pre-monsoon showers, on Friday. 
4.  No weightage for class 12 marks eases students' IIT path :  With the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) not giving any weightage to class 12 marks, over 33,000 students from Telangana who have qualified for the advanced exam have higher chances of securing admission into the Indian Institute of Technology this year.
5.  85% of candidates for physical education teaching post don't have sports certificate :  The requirements listed out for those applying to the post of physical education teachers in Gurukul schoolsare giving candidates sleepless nights as almost 85 per cent of them don't fulfil the demands.
6.  Baahubali frenzy: Bid goes as high as Rs 600 for Rs 100 stub :  The city was in the grip of Baahubali 2 frenzy on Friday. Across theatres people were seen standing in serpentine queues for hours to get that prized ticket.
7.  No mention of Nizam at Osmania University celebration upsets grandson :  The family members of Nizam VII, Mir Osman Ali Khan, have appealed to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to release a special statement highlighting the contribution of the former ruler to the development of Hyderabad.
8.  VCs express concern over funding for universities :  Educationalists and vice-chancellors of various universitiesexpressed their concern over poor financial support to higher educational institutions in the country on Friday as 80-90% of the funds was used to pay salaries and other expenditure.
9.  Junior doctors continue stir, rally against fee hike proposal  :  Continuing their protest against private colleges, hundreds of junior doctors and postgraduate students, on Friday, took out rallies in front of Gandhi, Osmania, and Pulse hospitals demanding that the government strikes off the fee hike proposal floated by private medical colleges.
10.  Distance learning to reach 50 lakh by 2025, says VC of IGNOU :  Students of open digital learning of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would reach to 50 lakh by 2025 from the current 30 lakh students, university vice chancellor Prof Ravindra Kumar said on Friday.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  Govt. shielding Mani, says Chennithala :   Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has said the CPI(M) bid to remove the Pengal Otrumai agitation venue on Thursday night is an act of contempt and the United Democratic Front (UDF) supported the agitation.
2.  CM to launch Amruth scheme on May 1 :  Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch Amruth scheme at the Government degree college at Nandyal on May 1.
3.  Declare entire State drought-hit: YSRC :  The agriculture wing of the YSR Congress has demanded that the government declare the entire State as drought affected, as the foodgrain production touched the lowest point after 2003.
4.  Tap opportunities in foreign trade, youth told :  Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Joint Director Virendra Singh said on Friday that foreign trade in the service sector was gaining momentum. There were a multitude of opportunities for the youth in this area, he said and urged them to make use of the available facilities.
5.  Beware of robber gang strikes in summer, caution police :  Police have given an alert on strikes by thieves, robber gangs, attention diversion gangs and tricksters during the ongoing summer. They appealed to the public to keep a vigil on the surroundings and be cautious with strangers to avoid falling prey to anti-social elements.
6.  Naidu reminds Collectors of the tasks ahead :  Within 10 days of transfer and posting, the District Collectors were in for a surprise when they received invitations for breakfast on Friday with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
7.  Court dismisses CBI plea to cancel Jagan’s bail  :  The Principal Court for CBI cases here on Friday dismissed the petition filed by the the investigating agency seeking cancellation of the bail given to YSR Congress president and Leader of Opposition of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, in the alleged quid pro quo case. Citing ‘attempts to influence prosecution witnesses’ and violation of bail conditions’ as grounds, the CBI authorities had earlier moved the court, pleading that Mr. Reddy’s bail be cancelled.
8.  Karem directs AU to fill backlog SC/ST posts :  Chairman of AP SC/ST Commission Karem Sivaji has directed Andhra University Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao to fill the vacant backlog posts, reserved for SC/ST candidates immediately.
9.  Railway employee gets 3 years’ RI in graft case :  Principal Special Judge Gayathri Devi of CBI cases on Friday convicted and sentenced a railway employee to three years’ rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000.
10.  Accountant in AMC trapped : Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday arrested the Office Superintendent (accountant) of Andhra Medical College (AMC), Dayam Bhaskara Kumar Rao, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
