Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh left unforgettable scars in the minds of the people of two Telugu speaking states.
The manner in which the APSRC bill was passed in the Parliament, stifling the opposition voices and closing the doors, made people of Andhra Pradesh angry. Even the lack of commitment of promises made during that time, is increasing the rivalry and animosity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Tempers too rose high during Telangana movement and the subsequent Samaikyandhra movement in which various political parties made slogans which hurt the sentiments of the people. Under this circumstance Governor of two states Narasimhan came with a shocker on Telangana formation.
He said “Unlike Telangana agitation in the late sixties, not a single bullet was fired this time. It has been a tumultuous journey , but my biggest achievement was to put to rest apprehensions about the situation post-bifurcation.“ and added as the bifurcation of AP and Telangana was not `divorce by consent unlike the creation of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand in 2000,issues do remain.
He added “Therefore, issues remain. These are getting sorted out and the two states are making good progress on the issue of division of assets and liabilities. One should re member that issues related to cadre division are still being sorted out between Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh,“
