Sources from Chennai have stated that Tamilnadu government's lawyer made an argument that liquor shops will not be opened in areas which are restricted by the common people. He said the police department have given right to fight against opening of liquor shops.TASMAC Company have approached the High Court for opening liquor shops, which was restricted by the court.
The TASMAC Company’s petition was investigated by High Court Judge Subrahmaniyam and Kalyana Sundaram.The government had stated that 3000 liquor shops will be shifted to different areas, but the government lawyer said in that case only twelve cases have come forward before the court.
After listening to the hearings from both the sides, judges have stated that they will again scrutinize about the shifting of liquor shops to different areas. They are welcoming liquor free state soon, and TASMAC company's petition was dropped off.
