Chennai sources have stated that the state's Transport Department had called for an indefinite strike from today, but as talks with the transport minister Vijaya Baskar was a failure one. So the strike had commenced from yesterday afternoon.



Transport Department had planned for an indefinite strike to fulfill the demands of their department staff's salary increase, permanent job confirmation and pending amount for 7000 crores not remitted are the demands placed before the Transport Minister. Earlier the department had announced on May 4 that the indefinite strike will be called from May 15.

When speaking to the CM Edappadi Palaniswami, he had promised to sanction Rs. 750 crores pending amount to dispersed soon. Further it was stated that after having talks with Transport Minister, department officials and Employees Union Association in addition Rs. 500 crores was also kept as their demands to be given to the employees.



But as their proposal was not accepted it was stated that the indefinite strike which was planned from today was called off from yesterday afternoon. Out of 7000 crores, they were promised to give just 1250 crores and so the strike is planned to meet out their demands.
