As per report from Allahabad sources have stated that Aadhaar goof-up left around 1000 villagers to celebrate birthday on same date. Villagers of Kanjasa in Uttar Pradesh were issued Aadhaar card and the entries showed that everyone in the village was born on January 1.

Meanwhile when flooded with complaints from the locals that their Aadhaar cards did not mention dates of birth correctly, the authorities have ordered a probe and are trying to put in place remedial measures.

Neeraj Dubey, Block Development Officer (BDO), Jasra said that "Nearly 1000 residents have complained about wrong entry of their dates of birth. Every card bore the date of birth as January 1, of different years though". He said an inquiry has been ordered into how such an error could occur.

Further Dubey said there was speculation that the software for the cards was so designed, as to automatically allocate January 1 as the birth date of those who did not know their actual dates of birth. That, however, did not explain why those who had submitted their dates of birth with proper documents also ended up being shown as born on January 1.
