1.   Parties in Telangana get into election mode :  All the major political parties in Telangana appear to have switched over to the poll mode though there are two more years to go for elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly.
2.  Greyhounds will now protect KCR :  According to the party sources, the security set up was changed about a week ago itself with the personnel of the Greyhounds, an elite force set up to combat naxalism in the past, replacing those from the special police. Instead of two officers of the rank of Sub-Inspectors of Police and four Constables guarding the VVIP in every shift.
3.  HC direction on Article 371-D :  A vacation Bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Saturday made it clear that Article 371-D of the Constitution is not applicable to the postgraduate medical and dental management quota seats in private non-minority medical and dental colleges in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
4.  Six crushed to death in landslip at illegal quarry :  Six daily wagers of an illegal quarry were crushed to death after huge boulders fell on them at Gottipalemvillage in Gunturdistrict's Phirangipuram mandal on Saturday. 
5.  Nirmal youth dies in Dubai accident :  A youth hailing from Nirmal died in a ghastly road mishap in Dubai. The victim, Vannela Sagar of Gadchanda in Lokeshwarammandal of Nirmal district had gone to Dubai in November 2015.
6.  After war of words with BJP, TRS keeps its Presidential poll cards close to its chest :  The TRS kept up the suspense on whom it will back in the Presidential elections with the party's elected representatives on Saturday passing a resolution giving full powers to party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to take the decision.
7.  Power cuts haunt Mirchowk residents :  Frequent power cuts have come to haunt residents living in some parts of the Old City. Worst affected are those in Mirchowk who rued how they have been faced with unscheduled power cuts all through the harsh summer months.
8.  Light physical exercise helps derive health benefits of fasting :  The Islamic holy month of Ramzan beginning on Sunday is primarily meant for spiritual discipline, but those on fast should also indulge in light physical exercises to derive the health benefits of fasting. 
9.  Cops step up security for Ramzan in Hyderabad :  With the Holy month of Ramzan beginning from Sunday, the police have made elaborate security arrangements in Old City and has deployed more than 2,500 personnel.
10.  Shops get nod to keep open all night through fasting month :  With the holy month of Ramzan begining Sunday, the Telanganagovernment has given exemption to shops and business establishments from rules and they can now remain open all through the night. 


Andhra Pradesh
1.   200 YSRC activists join Congress : 
 Nearly 200 minority activists led by Needy Blood Bank president Shoab Rahman quit YSR Congress and joined the Congress in the Kurnool DCC office on Saturday.
2.  Nothing to cheer about NDA rule: Congress :  All India Congress Committee SC convener S. Prasad has termed the three-year rule of the Narendra Modi government as failure to deliver on all poll promises. “There is nothing to cheer over its third anniversary in office as 30 farmers on an average committed suicide per day in different parts of the country due to severe agrarian crisis,” he told a press conference 
3.  PM has launched many signature projects :  Rajamahendravaram (Urban) MLA Akula Satyanarayana (BJP) has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched many signature projects, including micro-level financing to petty vendors who are below poverty line, Jan-Dhan accounts and housing schemes.
4.  Chief Secretary, SC Judge at Tirumala :  Chief Secretary Dinesh kumar on Saturday arrived here as part of his two-day pilgrimage to the temple town. On arrival, he was accorded a warm reception by Tirumala-based TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju and and other officials. 
5.  Three-year tenure of NDA, TDP a failure: Chinta :  Former MP Chinta Mohan on Saturday downplayed the achievements of the Central and the State governments and termed their three-year tenure as the one rife with publicity and zero development. 
6.  Amaravati roads: IRR and ORR to set global benchmarks :  The Outer and the Inner Ring Roads (ORR and IRR), proposed to be laid in the Andhra Pradesh (AP) capital region, are going to link up Amaravati to all parts of the country. Especially, the ORR will provide direct access to Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali which are the major activity centres.
7.  TDP seeks Central funds for both Telugu States :  Mahanadu, the annual conclave of the Telugu Desam Party, on Saturday adopted a resolution urging the Central government to release funds for the development of the Telugu States — Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — and other states as well.
8.  Will review special package, says Naidu :  “In per capita income, Kerala stands first in South India followed by Karnataka with Rs. 1.59 lakh, Tamil Nadu Rs. 1.53 lakh, and Telangana Rs. 1.52 lakh. Andhra Pradesh is at the last with Rs. 1.22 lakh,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said in his speech on the first day of Mahanadu at the AU Engineering College grounds.
9.  Groundwater hits a low in A.P. :  The groundwater level has plunged in Andhra Pradesh, touching successive new annual lows since 2014. The major reservoirs, which are nearly empty, pose a threat to drinking water access.
10.  Congress demands Rs. 10 lakh ex gratia :  The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president N. Raghuveera Reddy hs demanded that the government pay an ex gratia of Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of those who were killed when boulders fell on them as a result of an explosion in a quarry near Phirangipuram in Guntur.
