Protests are raging from several directions after the cattle ban.Now the Union Environment Ministry is examining to introduce a new change the definition of cattle in its new rules to exclude buffaloes from a ban on sale for slaughter at animal markets.
Mamata Banerjee,Chief Minister of Bengal and Pinarayi Vijayan Chief Minister of Kerela called the order an attack on state powers and said they would challenge it legally. Protests have spread from all directions including Kerala to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
At The Indian Institute of Technology or IIT Madras, almost 80 students participated in a beef fest and showed their protest against the ruling BJP of "imposing its communal agenda on the masses."
As an answer to the protests, the ministry said the regulation was meant to protect "animals from cruelty and not to regulate the existing trade in cattle for slaughterhouses,"
