Well, believe it or not, a Minor planet in the Milky Way is going to be called as Sahithi Pingali. This might sound weird, but it is true! The Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has the right to name all minor planets. Now, they have decided to name a minor planet with the name Sahithi.
She has been honored for her performance in the ISEF which is considered to be the World's largest pre-college science competition. Ms.Sahithi was one among the 2000 finalists and still, she proved her mettle.
Her paper is titled as, "An
Innovative Crowd Sourcing Approach to Monitoring Freshwater Bodies". She
won 3 special awards and was awarded 'Overall Second Place' in the Earth and
Environment Science category. After winning this honour, she said, "I
never expected this. I was expecting one award at least.
