Modi’s master stroke to select Kovind as the Presidential candidate from a Dalit caste has made all mouths shut including the ones in their own party members. On the other side, Dalit leader Meira Kumar was selected unanimously by the opposition parties.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who chaired the meeting made this final announcement.Dalit to Dalit competition.The selected candidature is a Former Lok Sabha speaker. Meira Kumar is the daughter of the former Deputy Prime Minister and well recognised Dalit leader Jagjivan Ram and freedom fighter Indrani Devi.This projects she has a ver good historic background.
Kumar's political career also has its share of negative side too.She was in the Lutyens Zone bungalow that was allotted to her father till his period after certain issues a rent bill of about Rs 2 crore was issued against Meira Kumar's name for her father's bungalow but it was later waived by the UPA government.But still with all these behind she is the right candidate to compete with Kovind the opposition feels so.
