Presently many woman feel ashamed to breastfeed their babies in public places. Many women feels hesitated to bow and feed their babies. An Australian Parliamentarian Larissa Waters had crated history breastfeeding her three and a half month baby while passing a motion in the Parliament House.
Waters was speaking about black lung disease while feeding her daughter Alia Joy. Waters who is MP from Queensland had later stated in her Twitter page that ‘her daughter moved her own motion, before Waters could move hers’. This is the first time Larissa Waters had to move a senate motion while breastfeeding.
Meanwhile the senator made headlines
in May when she became the first woman to breastfeed in Australia’s Senate.
This instance of women had proved her power in public place will go a long way
in the larger context of gender equality around the world. Her strong
attitude will motivate many women to remove their stigma.
