Sources from Jammu and Kashmir have reported that this year in the past two months around 17 policemen were killed and the third officer who was killed was Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Ayub Pandit who was killed on Thursday night.
Previously on June 16th Station House Officer along with five policemen was killed while they were returning to the police station at Anantnag district. It was stated that most of the deaths were reported from Anantnag and Kulgam districts. Meanwhile eleven policemen were killed in two attacks in Achabal and Kulgam.
Moreover in the last two years nearly 13 policemen
were killed in militancy related incidents in the valley side and the police
brass have expressed their concern about the rising casualty figures in this
year. It was added that two security guards were also killed in the incident. Sources
have added that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had paid homage
to the coffin of DSP Mohammad Ayub Pandit.
