Sabarimala Sources have stated that five persons were arrested by Pampa police officials for pouring the liquid over the gold plated mast on the newly constructed temple mast at Sabarimala on Sunday afternoon, and the theft was made immediately after the installation of the ceremony.
Meanwhile the Craftsman have identified the liquid which was poured over it was Mercury and the portion where the liquid which was poured had become dull. Through the CCTV camera Pampa police had arrested five persons who were involved in the incident. The accused had stated that they are visiting the temple pilgrimage for many years.
The craftsman had washed the affected portion with the acid to remove the
Mercury. Moreover the temple mast, covered with gold worth 3.2 crore, was
sponsored by a Hyderabad based company, Phoenix Infratech Private Limited. The investigation
team is making steps to restore the gold plated mast in the Sabarimala temple
and very soon arrangements are made about the incident.
