The India of 2017 is totally powerful and different from what it was before in 1962, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said a strong statement on Friday, hitting out China for asking the Indian Army to recall learn from the previously "historical lessons".
A day after China's sarcastic reference to the war fought between the two countries nearly 55 years ago, the defence minister Jaitley also said the current standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in the Sikkim sector was triggered by Beijing. Bhutan, he added, had made it clear that the land in question belonged to it.
"If China tries to remind us, the situation which was in 1962, I tell them back India was different then and India of 2017 is completely different," Jaitley said when asked regarding China's warning yesterday.China had rattled India to withdraw its troops from the Donglong area using the previous war in 1962. It has warned that the powerful Indian Army should learn "historical lessons".
