1.  GST: PM gambles big, at stake is India’s growth trajectory & BJP’s poll hopes :  Noting that he had carried demonetisation"on his shoulders", PM Narendra Modi asked the government's seniormost bureaucrats at a recent interaction to do all they can to make the goods and services tax (GST) a success by minutely examining its impact on their departments.
2.  Encounter underway in J&K's Anantnag district, one civilian killed :  Security forces launched cordon and search operations in Dailgam village in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, acting on intelligence on the presence of four terrorists in the area, a civilian woman was wounded in the crossfiring.
3.  Azam Khan booked for sedition over Army remarks :  Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been booked under sedition charges at Chandpur police station in Bijnor on Friday for alleged derogatory remarks against the Army.
4.   NIA to recommend closing down LoC barter trade with Pakistan started in 2008 :  The National Investigation Agency probe into the barter trade between India and Pakistan at LoC is almost finalised and agency has decided to write to the government recommending closure of the trade, which agency sources said is largely being misused and several traders are involved in funding terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
5.  'Not the 1962 India anymore': Jaitley's response to China :  The India of 2017 is different from what it was in 1962, defence minister Arun Jaitley asserted on Friday, hitting out at China for asking the Indian Army to learn from "historical lessons".
6.  Don’t give religious colour to lynching: Naidu :   A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modidenounced killings in the name of cow protection, Union information and broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu on Friday called the spate of lynchings by vigilante groups "condemnable and barbaric" and appealed against giving a political or communal colour to such actions.
7.  China is trying to alter status quo, says Jaitley :  Defence minister Arun Jaitley said on Friday  that "Bhutan has itself clarified... China is trying to alter the present status-quo. After this, I think the issue is absolutely clear. To say we will come there and grab the land of some other country is what China is doing and it is absolutely wrong".
8.  It’ll be a bit like getting used to new specs: PM :  PM Narendra Modi cautioned the nation that adjusting to GSTwould be a bit like getting used to a new pair of spectacles.
9.  Close shave for home secy on BSF plane :  Home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and passengers of an IndiGo flight had a narrow escape on Friday when the BSF aircraft the bureaucrat was flying in from Srinagar to Delhi and the commercial flight operating on Delhi-Srinagar sector came dangerously close. The two planes had to take last-minute evasive action to avert mid-air collision. 
10.  RBI says strict scrutiny of DCCBs depositing old notes :  Reserve Bank of India has said that it would conduct a strict scrutiny of the demonetized currency collected by district central cooperative banks (DCCB). The move follows a gazette notification on June 21st by the government enabling the DCCBs to deposit demonetized currency with RBI.
11.  Bring Azam Khan tongue, get 50 lakh reward: VHP leader :  Reaction to Azam Khan's controversial statement about Indian soldiers took a new turn, with Shahjahanpur district coordinator of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Rajesh Kumar Awasthiannouncing a reward of Rs 50 lakh for the tongue of the Samajwadi Party leader.

6.  Death toll nearly 200 in Pakistan oil tanker fire; 6 suspended :  The death toll in the oil tanker inferno in Pakistan rose to 194 on Friday, prompting the government to suspend six officials including a DSP-level officer for negligence that led to one of the worst fire accidents in the country.
7.  Talks on Sikkim sector row only after India withdraws troops: China :  China today said the diplomatic channels with India are "unimpeded" for "meaningful talks" over the military stand-off in the Sikkim sector but maintained that Indian troops must first withdraw from the Doklam area over which Beijing has "indisputable sovereignty"
8.  China cites its version of history to claim areas of Bhutan :  China has again referred to its version of history to buttress its claims over a disputed area disputed area, which is also claimed by Bhutan. 
9.  China's Xi draws 'red line' in Hong Kong :  China's President Xi Jinping said Saturday Hong Kong was freer than ever before but laid down an uncrossable "red line" for any challenge to Beijing's authority as the city marked 20 years since it was handed back by Britain.
