Sources from New Delhi have stated that Supreme Court heard a petition over the Tamilnadu Government order of 85% reservation to students studied in State Board and also Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students' challenging as to why the state government reserved only 15% seats for students outside State Board post National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).
Sources have stated that on May 20, after the Madras High Court sought the stand of Union health secretary, among others, on a plea for cancellation of the NEET 2017 for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses, former Tamilnadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam on Saturday demanded 50% reservation quota to students who will be appearing for NEET this year.
Meanwhile when speaking to the reporters here, he
said "NEET entrance exam is another big issue that needs to be discussed
soon for the students who are soon to appear. He had made a request to the
Union to help the Tamilnadu government in solving this issue. We also demand
50% reservation quota to students who would be appearing in NEET this
year". Many petitioners stated that NEET examinations should be cancelled
and fresh examination with uniform papers to be conducted.
