Demonetised notes dumped in sacks of about  Rs 24 crore,which  has been poured in  by devotees in the hundi in the world  famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in the last six months, a head temple official said on Monday.

Anil Kumar Singhal,top executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which is in full responsibility the hill shrine told a daily publishing here today that more than Rs 24 crore worth of old  Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 demonetised notes was deposited by the Indian devotees in the huge  Hundi of the hill temple in the last span  six months.

“In the wake of recent Supreme Court order we will be writing a letter conveying the temple situation, today or tomorrow to RBI and the Centre about the demonetised notes offered by Indian devotees as fulfilment of their vows, he said.

On July 4, the Supreme Court granted the Centre and Reserve Bank of India two weeks grace time to consider the option of granting a window to those who could not deposit their old  Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes only if the  reason is valid .
