New Delhi sources have made a statement that a wrestler has been arrested in west Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area for allegedly sexually assaulting a junior national level Kabbadi player. It was stated that the 40-year-old accused, identified as Naresh Dahiya, is a resident of Jain Extension in Shahbad Dairy area in north Delhi.
A senior police officer said "The incident occurred on July 9 when the victim, who went for training in Chhatrasal Stadium in north Delhi, was accosted by Dahiya. Meanwhile posing as a coach, he lured the victim to his car on the pretense of giving her diet tips". Further, After having covered some distance, he struck behind her shoulder following which she lost consciousness. When she regained her senses, she found herself in a flat. The accused then sexually assaulted her.
Meanwhile the victim later approached the police and filed a complaint against Dahiya at the Model Town police station in north Delhi and currently, he has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 376 of the IPC. However, he has been given royal treatment inside the prison as per sources. He is yet to be produced before the magistrate.
