Hyderabad sources have stated that This year's Civil Services all India 3rd ranker Ronanki Gopalakrishna has stated that he is physically handicapped and he has been certified by Srikakulam District Medical Board as a Permanent Locomotor Disabled Person in 2002 when he met with an accident and suffered a serious injury to his right hand.
Meanwhile in his counter to a petition filed by an advocate in the Hyderabad High Court, Gopalakrishna said his physically handicapped status has also been confirmed by King George Hospital, Vishakapatnam and RIMS, Srikakulam besides Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad.
He said he availed of the physically handicapped quota for teacher post he got in 2006 and also in APPSC Group-1.According to sources M. Muralikrishna, an advocate from Secunderabad stating that Gopalakrishna's claim as a physically handicapped person was false. A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Justice Ramesh Ranganathan issued notices to Gopalakrishna and UPSC for counters and further the court will pronounce its verdict in the next hearing.
