Chennai sources have reported that Bigg Boss Tamil, which has been embroiled in controversy ever since it was launched last month, is facing another threat as an Rs 100 crore defamation case was filed against the reality show and its host Kamal Hassan.

Currently Politician K Krishnaswamy filed the case against actor Kamal Hassan and the program organizers. He alleged in his complaint that one of the contestant Gayathri in the show used the word cheri (slum dweller) during the conversation with another contestant in the show. The conversation has become a topic of debate in Kollywood circles. The incident also received severe criticism from the viewers.

Moreover leader of Puthiya Tamizhagam K Krishnaswamy sought an apology from Kamal Hassan for Gayathri's remarks in the show. He also alleged that it was done to garner more TRP ratings for the show. He said, Kamal deliberately included the conversation and aired the programme only to make audience more curious. It was stated that the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil was launched on June 25, 2017, on Star Vijay.
