As per the report from sources, it was stated that past enmity caught with nine persons, belonging to two clashing families in Uttarakanchi village of Prathipadu Mandal in East Godavari district. Meanwhile, according to the police, two families in the village have been at loggerheads for quite some time over land related disputes.
Earlier on Monday, both the families attacked one another with swords, knives, and sickles. Sources have stated that one group lay in wait and pounced upon the other group, which was returning from the farm work. Six persons suffered deep gashes and bleeding injuries. In retaliation, three members of the other family were also attacked with sickles.
Sources have reported that all the nine injured have been rushed to the Prathipadu Government Hospital. Accordingly, the police rushed to the village to bring the situation under control. They have registered a case and have begun a probe. Further details are awaited.
