As a measure to reduce the accidents, the Railway Ministry on Sunday has decided to take quick measures to eliminate all unmanned level crossings in the country within a span of one year time.The decision regarding this was taken after the Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal reviewed the quarterly performance of Southern Railway and ICF in a recent meet .
During the meeting, the Minister insisted the department authorities to ensure that Indian Railways provides the best quality service with speed and safety.Southern railway sources here said that the previous target was to eliminate unmanned level crossings in three years of time.But these accidents has given us a push to do things quick and this new target has to be completed within one year now.
Not only that , he said railway officials should take proper measures in water conservation, plastic disposal as an important part of Green India mission of government.
