Recently, we reported about the hike in Ticket prices in Tamil Nadu theaters as Government hiked them up to Rs.220/ inclusive of GST and local body taxes. TFPC even protested against the double taxation by the TN Government.

As TN Government reduced the local body tax to 8% from 10%, TFPC President Vishal announced that no movies will be released in theaters on Friday. 2 weeks theaters had empty seats and old movies, 'Taramani' and 'Vikram Vedha' got a re-release.

In this case, 'Mersal' is all set for a release this Wednesday for Diwali and most of the Non-Multiplex Single Screens are backing out as they are showing signs of 'Hatred' against the new terms and conditions. The most famous Kasi Theater confirmed they won't be releasing the movie. Trichy Rambha cinemas and few more main screens also did the same.
