The Anti-corruption bureau has arrested an inspector belonging to the survey and land records department in Vijayanagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, for possession of more than 100 Crores, disproportionate to his income.

The accused, Gedela Lakshmi Ganeswara Rao, 56, had reportedly tampered documents pertaining government lands in Vishakapatnam, worth more than 3600 crores. Rao and his family hold 30.36 acres of agri land in Godavari and Andhra besides 19 flats in Vishakapatnam and Godavari.

In 2009 itself, a disproportionate assets case was filed on Rao, as he had tampered land documents when he surveyed inspector of Machilipatnam, Krishna district. Though a charge sheet has been filed on Rao, with a special investigation team probing, there's rising demand to bring in CBI into the case.
