Hyderabad sources have stated that while the Hyderabad Metro Rail works are going on in full swing on the Miyapur-Ameerpet stretch, the Telangana government has kept the people guessing on the metro ride fare. Although the fare structure is yet to be officially announced, the state government is likely to fix the price at Rs 8 for every two kilometers, Rs 10 for 2-6 kms, Rs 12 for 6-10 kms, Rs 14 for 10-14 kms, Rs 16 for 14-18 kms, Rs 19 for 18+ kms. The daily pass is likely to be charged at Rs 40.
Meanwhile with just eight days left before the November 29 deadline for the Hyderabad Metro Launch, the Commissioner of metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is yet to issue the safety clearance. Subsequently, the Telangana government is working on alternative plans. Like the smart cards that are in use in all the major cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi for the metro rail system, Hyderabad too will have this system for its passengers.
Moreover according to sources, the price of the
smart card would be around Rs 200. While the actual price is just Rs 100, the
recharge fares are also included, amounting to Rs 200. Accordingly the Smart Cards
will be for sale at all the 24 metro stations.
