Sources from Hyderabad have made a statement that the prices of eggs and edible oils are pinching the pockets of consumers in the state. Following the government's move to raise the duty of oil imports, prices of sunflower, soya bean and palm oil have skyrocketed to Rs.7 per liter on Tuesday night.



According to sources the Telangana state is one of the highest consumption of sunflower and palm oil in the country. Meanwhile an egg, which is a staple diet for a common man, has become costly too. Eggs are usually priced around Rs 3 to 5 per unit in the retail market. Now the price hiked to Rs 7. The palm oil which is generally prices around Rs 66 is now being sold at Rs 72.

Moreover sunflower oil which is sold at Rs 75 is now Rs 80. Soya bean which was Rs 90 is now sold from Rs 92 to Rs 95 in the markets. Furthermore the state government owned Telangana State Cooperative Oilseeds Growers Federation Limited (TSOILFED) has also hiked the prices of the Vijaya brand.
