After verbal attacks, the prime minister Modi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh came face to face, as they shook hands during the event to mark 2001 parliament attacks anniversary.

Both the current and former prime minister paid their respects to the nine Martyrs who died after terrorists attacked parliament and opened fire on 13 December 2001. This meeting and the presence of both the persons has huge significance as in Gujarat campaign rally, Modi claimed that Manmohan and Mani Shankar Aiyer discussed Gujarat polls to Pakistanis, while Manmohan retorted that Modi should apologize for his false claims.


The newly appointed Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who returned after Gujarat campaign also joined the event and paid his respects besides also talking to Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.
