It looks like the efforts of Sonia Gandhi and UPA to save Lalu has failed miserably. After Rahul Gandhi reportedly asking UPA to tear up the ordinance that protects convicted MPs and MLAs, the Bihar Strong man Lalu has been convicted by a CBI court in Ranchi.

Lalu Yadav was accused of involvement in fodder scam in 1997 which involved a scam to the tune of Rs. 900 crores. He had to quit his CM post then due to this. The case had dragged on for more than 16 years.

Today it was declared that Lalu has been found guilty and the sentencing is expected on October 3rd and sources say he may face a jail term of 3-7 years. As per recent SC ruling, he will be losing his MP status also and cannot continue as MP by using the appealing process from one court to other!
