Land is one precious commodity which has seen an unusual and prosperous push especially in the last decade with high dose of globalization and rise of incomes. At the same time apart from giving prosperity for few, it has caused heartburn. This is also one of the key issues in AP bifurcation arguments regarding granting statehood to Telangana region. It is a fact that to these large chunks of land in and around Hyderabad worth thousands of crores belongs to the Seemandhras, particularly Kamma Community from Coastal Andhra. According to historians, when Hyderabad was merged into Indian in 1948 and subsequent merger of Telangana with Andhra in 1956, most of the Muslim elite loyal to Nizam and Hyderabad state sold off their land for peanuts and migrated to US and Europe! Since the people of Telangana were not that prosperous, landlords, businessmen and educated families from Andhra were reportedly getting cash in small bags to Hyderabad and bought these huge parcels of land. For instance, they bought one acre in Nanakramguda at a price of Rs.5000 per acre then which is now worth anywhere around 50-60 crores. This is why Telangana people resent and call this dominance!
