In a startling incident a bomb was found beneath the car of Union Minister V.Narayanaswamy at his residence in Puduchery. According to the police one of the workers who was cleaning the car found a metal pipe below the minister's car.  The curious worker took the pipe, which measured roughly one foot. Both ends of the pipe were strapped with plastic tapes, thread and wires.  He at once informed Minister of State for Prime Minister Office, who alerted Puduchery police. DGP P. Kamaraj said "The report of the bomb detection and disposal squad is awaited for follow up action,"  Minister said his driver found the bomb under his car in the early hours. Two wires were found connected to the pipe-like device which was sealed at both the ends. Police registered case under the Explosives Substances Act.Narayanaswamy said this shows that anti social elements are  on the rise in Puduchery. Congress workers at once protested against the security lapse. The pipe bomb resembled the bombs recovered from a hut near Kudankulam in November last year. Six people, including two children, were killed when crude bombs stored in a hut in a village near Kudankulam exploded. Police recovered two unexploded crude bombs from the blast site.
