The wives of the Telangana politicians are now busy supporting their husbands on their election campaign. Though the aspiring candidates for the Chevella Lok Sabha seat have a strong Telangana base, their wives, however, hail from Seemandhra, or have different political backgrounds. All of them, however, are actively helping their husband during this election season. TRS candidate K. Vishweshwar Reddy’s wife Sangeeta hails from Chittoor, while Congress candidate Karthik Reddy’s wife Vishali Sravanti is from East Godavari. TDP candidate, Ms Sangeeta Reddy, also executive director of Apollo Hospitals, addressed a women’s gathering as part of her husband’s election campaign at Mastannagar in Serlingampally. “As far as my husband is concerned, his concern for Telangana has always been for the development of the region. He comes from Hyderabad and is proud of its multi-cultural heritage. We both believe that Hyderabad is for everyone, be it from any region, Andhra or Telangana. He is committed for its development and I am in full support of it,” she said. Ms Vishali Sravanti (29), wife of Mr Karthik Reddy, the eldest son of Congress’ Sabita Indra Reddy, said, “Though my ancestral roots are in Andhra, my parents and I have been born and brought up in Hyderabad and are very much a part of this region. I have been married for four years now and my loyalty definitely lies with the Congress. I belong to this family and my primary duty lies here.” TDP candidate T. Veerender Goud’s wife T. Divyashree (22), hails from Gangavati in Karnataka. Her grandfather was a Congress leader. “Though I come from a Congress background, after my wedding, my family and its interests are my priority. Hence, my full support is for the TDP,” said Ms Divyashree.
