The three public rallies in Telangana excluding Hyderabad by BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was planned to be an exclusively BJP affair. Though TDP insisted Chandrababu should be there, BJP was cautious given his fall of grace in Telangana.
However sources say that for the third meeting to be held in Mahabubnagar today, ex-TDP number two and currently BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Mahabubnagar Nagam Janardhan Reddy was particular that Naidu also be present.
He reportedly lobbied heavily with BJP leadership to make sure that his former friend and TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu should be present at the rally in his home turf. Nagam has been part of the TDP for many years and has held ministries too.
Nagam still believes TDP has good clout in South Telangana and is of the opinion that unless Chandrababu is present personally, TDP cadre may not come forward to vote for him. It has to be seen if Modi will oblige Nagam’s requirement.
