Jumping jacks have shown up once again now in the Andhrapradesh state politics. As aware, two Members of Parliament from the Kurnool district have taken a leap from their YSR Congress party to the ruling Telugudesam party. They are three time Parliamentarian SPY Reddy of Nandyal constituency and the first timer Butta Renuka. This has weakened YSRCP in the district now. Though such jumps are never new in politics, the time taken for these decisions is now becoming the topic of discussions in the state political circles. Results were hardly announced 10 days back and the victorious candidates have not even sworn in still and here comes the leaps is what surprising all. SPY Reddy has officially joined while Renuka says she has not. Whatever it may be, now comes in the interesting discussion of Anti-Defection law. Telugudesam party leaders are into saying, YSR Congress party is just a recognized party and is not still a registered party and thus the Anti defection law will not be applicable and nor the party can pass on an official whip also. YSR Congress leaders are defending by saying that Election commission has clearly stated that winning on one symbol and jumping into another comes into the act. Leaving aside the laws and thinking ethically, this for sure is a sort f cheating by the Jumping jacks. Of course, voters have voted for the person, but the votes are more to the party than the candidate. So, this is like disrespecting the voters who have honestly and hopefully supported the contestant. They can always resign and contest back to win from the party they want to provided they bear the expenses of the re polling.
