The Telangana Assembly will be held from June 9 to administer the oath to members and elect the Speaker of th House. The first two days will be limited to oath-taking and the election of the Speaker will take place on the third day, sources said, quoting a decision taken at an informal meeting of the Cabinet presided over by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Sources added that a proposal to reconvene the Assembly by the month’s end for the regular session and the possibility of expansion of the Cabinet between the two sessions was also discussed on the occasion. Incidentally, the Assembly has to take up the budget by August since a vote-on-account alone was presented in February in the previous House representing two States. The Cabinet also discussed the waiver of loans up to Rs. 1 lakh borrowed by farmers. Loan waiver was one of the major election promises of Telangana Rashtra Samithi. It was decided to convene a meeting of bankers to consider the issue, sources said. After the meeting, orders appointing retired IAS officers K.V. Ramanchary, A.K. Goel, A. Ramlaxman and B.V. Papa Rao as advisors to the government were released.
