The latest news coming in is that the records dating back to 1952 to 1956 which have been stored in the State Archives and Research Institute, Tarnaka, will reportedly be verified for determining the nativity of Telangana citizens. The Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly asked the institute officials about the availability of the records and sources say that they have confirmed of having all records like voters’ lists, Nizam-era revenue records etc., Census, for the period from 1952 to 56. The Telangana government will reportedly issue guidelines in a day or two to determine the nativity for eligibility in terms of admissions, scholarships, fee reimbursement, government jobs and many of the other welfare schemes. The government is reportedly very much keen that benefits offered by it should reach only real Telangana residents for which 1956 has been proposed as cut off year when Hyderabad State was merged with Andhra to create Andhra Pradesh. Under the new policy, the parents or grandparents of current beneficiaries should be residents of Telangana region prior to 1956.
