Arun Jaitely has announced that NDA is committed to construct Krishnapatnam Seaport as Industrial Smart City. Finance Minister said Krishnapatnam port has been linked with newly proposed Visakhapatnam and Chennai Coastal Corridor. Nellore people are very much happy on Jaitely’s announcement. Earlier, very few people known about Krishnapatnam. In 2008, Sonia Gandhi dedicated Krishnapatnam to the nation.
Krishnapatnam port was started with 3 berths now it reached to 10 berths. In 2013-14, port was import and export 2.8 crores of tons of iron ore. It generates 200 crores of yearly revenue to Vijayawada railway division through transport of Coal. Krishnapatnam generates direct employment of 7K and indirect employment to 25K people in and around Nellore district. Krishnapatnam is also called as “Gateway of East Coast”.
Connecting with Vishaka to Chennai Coastal Corridor is the key for the development of Andhra Pradesh. Arun Jaitely said that we connected this with Asian Development Funds. This is the first time to announce the southern port as Industrial Smart City. Industrialists are attracted to Krishnapatnam due to Power and infrastructure development. Nellore will become fastest growing district with Krishnapatnam.
