CBN has fulfilled his promise on removing Belt Shops soon after taking the charge of Andhra Pradesh. Excise Department act hardly in removing these Belt Shops. Department filed 1050 criminal cases so far in the state on liquor shop owners. Excise Police had arrested 1003 people in running the Belt Shops. Excise Department has removed 1050 Belt Shops in the state. There are 197 shops in Vizag, 125 in Kurnool and 100 in Vizaianagaram district. Chittoor will be the least number of Belt Shops (28) have removed. Department cancelled licenses of 20 liquor shops in the state. As per the Department sources, 4,250 liters IMFL and 1,400 liters of Beer have seized in their raids. On other hand Excise Department told that the state government might lose huge amount of income by removing Belt Shops in the state. Income from Excise is the highest for any state. Reportedly, 25 to 40% of sales of liquor drop when compared to last year.
