Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu carries a jinx that whenever he is in power, the state gets no rains and drought looms around everywhere. His second tenure for 1999-2004 had a worse track record. This was also the reason why TDP could not come into power at that time. Now with no timely monsoon rains in June and till first week of July, it provided enough fodder for Babu’s critics to attack him saying his presence is a bad omen for the state. This has also proved like a challenge to the TDP government. But sources say that than Telangana, there are good rains now in AP and with this power cuts have also been lifted. Earlier, the towns and cities faced four-six hour power cuts while Mandal headquarters were facing six-eight hour cuts and villages faced 12 hours of power cuts. The deficit in the state has reportedly come down by 35 million units between July 2 and July 18 due to a combination of good rains, hydel power generation and efforts of new government. Once the centre implements the 24 hour power status then all issues will be done with.
