The forest department's inability in nabbing leopard that is on the prowl at the Icrisat campus in Patancheru for close to four months has reportedly left the authorities miffed. Officials at the non-profit agricultural research organisation have given the latest update. They have mentioned that even though the forest department has reportedly cordoned off a part of the 1,390 hectare campus it has so far failed to involve Icrisat in its operation. Some days ago, a tranquilisation attempt by a veterinary expert from Nehru Zoo Park wasn’t successful and the eight-year-old cat reportedly escaped. Icrisat also reportedly allotted a separate room for the forest department team and is also supplying baits whenever required including access to 12 CCTV cameras installed by the forest department, that were brought from Srisailam Tiger Reserve. For last four months, officials of ICRISAT and other works are only coming out in groups and are avoiding coming out in the night well aware that the Cheetah is on the prowl and the forthcoming rainy season may result in growth of thick vegetation making the animal impossible to catch.
