Contrary to some of the speculations and fears, sources say that the revenue collections of Andhra Pradesh state are gradually improving and in July the revenue collections have reportedly reached the target. The state government had stipulated a target of Rs 5,000 crore revenue collections each month, but in June, the revenue collections were actually less than 900 crore from the target. The finance officials reporetdly assessed that the revenue collections have already reached Rs 4,000 crore and once the whole month ends it is expected to reach the planned target. As part of the annual budget, the AP government is reportedly expecting Rs 32,164 crore from major revenue sources such as sales tax, stamps, excise, and registrations and motor vehicles tax, during current financial year. This is being seen as good news for Naidu’s government which can give sufficient room for welfare programs and new initiatives.
