It is a well known fact that Reddy community has been the dominant political force in United AP but now with bifurcation, while Kammas are on the rise in AP, hitherto relegated to background i.e. Velamas are now powerful in TS.
But TDP leader Revanth Reddy, as part of his outburst against TRS government mentioned that the so called FAST scheme that envisages financial assistance to students only those families are based in TS before 1956, is actually aimed at the ‘community’ without taking its name.
This open outburst has reportedly sent shockwaves in the Reddy community of TS. There were allegations that YSR started fee reimbursement to benefit Reddys all over AP who own a majority of engineering colleges. With FAST, the assistance would be heavily coming down and at the same time, the fees amount due for last year worth Rs.2500 crores is not being assured of being paid back to colleges by KCR government.
Revanth stated that out of 450 plus colleges in TS, more than 280 belong to the community and with his latest plans, KCR is planning to target the community and weaken their financial foundations, which he termed unacceptable. Well this may definitely galvanize the Reddy community and put them on sudden notice and alert.
