The Andhra Pradesh government is all set to operate from Vijayawada within the next three months, with key departments to be shifted to Gannavaram, officials revealed this even as the government would simultaneously build a new capital within a period of three years.
The KC Sivaramakrishnan committee, which has been appointed by the Centre to identify the right area for new capital city of AP, will be submitting its final report to the state government on August 27.
This is according to municipal affairs minister P Narayana who shared details on Monday. The minister reportedly said that the government has taken a decision to move to Vijayawada city in three months.
Initially 20 to 25 departments would be shifted to Medha Towers opposite Gannavaram Airport near Vijayawada while other government buildings in Vijayawada will host remaining departments in the remaining time.
