The dilapidated Saifabad Palace in Hyderabad will reportedly be the house for CM KCR after renovations. Though the building is lying idle without any offices for close to a decade, there are fears that the in case the building collapses hundreds of persons may be affected as it stands in the middle of the Secretariat. In 2008, sources say that it was estimated that a cost of Rs 8 crore was required for renovating the building. Now the officials have pegged the renovation cost at Rs 20 crore. K.Chandrasekhar Rao, who seems to be giving utmost importance to Nizam era’s heritage structures by organizing the Independence Day celebrations at Golconda Fort recently and seeking Metro Rail route realignment to protect heritage markets at Sultan Bazaar and Mozoamjahi Market, is now very much keen for preserving the G-Block. The building boasts of classical European style with grand semi-circular arches coupled with imposing arched portico, Corinthian columns and high ceiling while an ornate staircase and a lift add to its rich elegance.
