It is the grand old party and is a national party and in a key state like Andhra Pradesh, it was in power from 2004 to 2014. But today when one looks at the past, the Congress party is in such a state that it cannot claim any CM in last ten years as its own. The YSR legacy has been effectively hijacked by his son Jagan Mohan Reddy. The veteran politician Rosaiah is known for his lack luster and ineffective tenure and now he is in PM Narendra Modi’s good books to maintain his governor post. When it comes to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, the less said the better. Although it was clear that bifurcation was inevitable, his prolonged statements and defiance without any concrete action neither stopped AP bifurcation nor has it strengthened Congress. Now he is out of the party. So there is not one CM of Andhra Pradesh that Congress can completely own. Now that the state has become into two parts, it will be increasingly difficult for Congress to gain a foothold either in Telangana or Andhra.
