When it comes to relief and rescue operations, the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh seems to have adopted an entirely different approach right from Uttarakhand operations last year when it was in opposition. There are more than 60 students from both AP and Telangana in Srinagar’s National Institute of Technology, a reputed engineering college run by Centre. The campus is located in between mountains and is surrounded by lakes. Sources say that for more than four days, they were left without any food and water and finally AP government got in touch with Army who rescued them. Andhra Pradesh govt. reportedly made all efforts to ensure that they were brought to Leh. And from there they were brought to Delhi’s AP Bhavan by means of a special flight. Students reportedly described a harrowing experience when floodwaters gushed into their buildings and hostel in Srinagar’s Hazratbal area.
