In what can be termed as a festival extravaganza of the first government of Telangana, there has been a lot of frenzy over Bathukamma festival, which is being held officially for the first time. CM KCR announced a whopping Rs 10 crores budget for this event.
The government of TS has made it a gala affair that this festival reflects the culture and spirit of Telangana State, which was neglected all these years in United Andhra Pradesh. However at the same time this is not cutting ice with many leaders minus those belonging to TRS.
They feel that although the festival is part of the region’s culture, their districts have never played the festival and hence it cannot be forced onto them. Nagam Janardhan Reddy from Mahabubnagar district criticized the KCR government.
He stated that the government is forcing people to celebrate the festival to compensate for lack of proper administration. DK Aruna, Congress leader lambasted Kavitha saying they never played Bathukamma in their home district and this forceful ways is unacceptable!
