The latest tussle between AP and Telangana regarding the release of water from Srisailam dam has now reached a flashpoint with the Telangana government refusing to stop hydel power generation even after AP government has agreed to compensate for this by providing 300 MW power everyday. Upset with TRS government's decision not to halt hydel power generation from the Srisailam left power house, the AP government has complained to the Krishna River Management Board. AP is expecting Telangana to halt power generation at Srisailam since the water has been stored as emergency for Rayalaseema districts of Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur for mainly drinking water purpose during summer. When Andhra Pradesh initially made a request last week, TS irrigation minister Harish Rao said that it would stop generation of hydel power from Srisailam in case AP government offers 300 MW power daily.  However, again the Telangana government had decided against stopping power generation which has led to panic in AP because the dam would reach its dead storage and until June 2015 there wouldn’t be any major inflows in this reservoir.
