India’s first fetal heart procedure is done by doctors in an undelivered baby in mother’s womb at care hospital. The baby in the womb of shirisha was diagnosed to suffer from severe obstruction in the aortic valve, which results in Failure in pumping of blood from left ventricle to the body. There is also a leakage in mitral valve and shrinkage of left side heart chambers. 30 members, medical team which includes eight doctors led by k. Nageshwar Rao, chief pediatric cardiologist took two and half hour long procedure for operation. Specialized needles are imported and specific sized balloons are manufactured. The procedure was performed in 27th week of pregnancy where doctors were not unsuccessful in their first attempt in 26th week of pregnancy due to unfavorable fetal conditions.
