There are many obstacles for AP Government in selling seized 8000 tons of red sandalwood from the smugglers. AP Government has controlled the smuggling activities in Seshachalam forests soon after TDP came to the power. There is lot of demand for Red Sandalwood in foreign countries. AP Government seeks to get more revenue through e-aution. For that AP Government received the approval from Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
TDP alleged that YSRCP is creating unnecessary problems to the Government in e-auction. TDP was blamed that YSRCP followers went to the court to stop the e-aution and stop the revenue to the Government. AP expects to earn around 1000 crore through global auction of red sanders that is being quoted at 10 lakh to 30 Lakh a tone in global market. At last, Supreme Court agreed to conduct e-auction from November 24th to the Government.
Common Cause NGO objected for this e-auction and said that it is the rare and valuable spice. Apex Court quashes the petition and said that AP Government went for auction only Seized Red Sandalwood. SC believed that AP government followed the auction procedure with clarity. SC verdict is great sigh of relief to AP Government.
