Minister of State, Science and Technology & Earth Sciences Sujana Chowdary predicts that AP would get Special Status by the end of January’15. Sujana Chowdary said that NDA government is analyzing how to give special status to the state. Is there any chance to provide subsidies to the state without giving Special Status? As per Sujana Chowdary, there is huge brain storming did in BJP cabinet in this regard. Reportedly, five states (Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Tamilnadu and Karnataka) are not willing to give special status to AP. Union Government provides 30% in the form of Grants and 70% as loans to their schemes. In case of special status, state would receive 90% of the amount in the form of Grants and 10% as loans. Planning Commission was ruled out the chances of giving special status to AP. But Chief Minister CBN appeal nearly 16 times to Union Government and it’s ministers on Special Status. On other side, Venkaiah Naidu said that AP Reorganization 2013 bill have to be amended. AP Government expects clarity on Special Status and Separate Packages to the state by the completion of the on-going sessions.
