In what could be considered as fillip to the industrial sector in Andhra Pradesh, the state government sanctioned green signal to three companies for establishing new units in Rayalaseema region and Nellore district. Once grounded, these units would be expected to be generating about 13,000 jobs, and this would be mostly for the rural unemployed. The three companies are Shahi Exports, Universal Coke & Power Ltd and Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd, which have now been cleared with special incentives package by the Chandrababu Naidu government. The Shahi group is starting four apparel parks in Palamaneru, Kuppam, Chittoor in Chittoor district and at Hindupur in Anantapur district that would generate about 11,000 jobs for rural women. Universal Coke & Power is establishing a non-recovery coke plant combined with 35 MW cogen power plant using the heat generated in this main plant and would provide jobs to 1,525 people while Ambuja Group is to setting up a maize processing plant close to Jupadu-Bungalow in Kurnool district that would generate more than 500 jobs.
